Peggy Hinaekian, a well known artist of international reputation who, after having spent many years in Geneva, is now living in the United States. She has however chosen to keep some privileged links with Switzerland. It is therefore a great pleasure for the gallery to host the new painted works of Peggy Hinaekian, accompanied with monotypes on paper.

The new works irradiate with a new breath, although the artist is faithful to herself and to her style. Warm, bright, sparkling with light, with dominating shades of red-orange colours, they translate the sands of the deserts, burned by implacable suns, endlessly unfurling under the artist’s glaze when she crosses Eastwards-Westwards the vast American plains. Her residential areas, at the same time south of California and Florida, incite her to frequently move from one place to the other.

Intrepid and passionate traveller, sharp observer, the eye always watchful, the artist catches fugacious details, imprints in her memory instants picked up on the spot, passages crossed in a hurry. They are transcribed here and there, according to the moment, in a tiny trace, a picturesque sign thrown surreptitiously on the canvas, like a notice scratched or a sketch made at the corner of a table so that this inspiring blow of creation doesn’t escape. Elsewhere, at the confines of the painting, a sign, a testimony, a sudden emotion brushed on the surface, is like suspended in the free space.

By watching closer the picturesque surface however, what discoveries and richness ! The colour fields are animated, underlying coats are revealing themselves, modulate the areas of desert appearance and give place to small touches of blue, like little drops of water quenching the thirst of the spectator, bringing him at the same time this essential touch of dream.
The blue canvases are full of poetry and, to the contrary of the preceding ones, they are impregnated with red traces, full of life, in a way the “signature” of the author. These elements can be found in the monotypes; a new way for the artist to express herself, an enrichment for the observer to accost on these shores.


The works of Hinaekian are present in numerous public and private collections, namely in banking establishments in Switzerland. She exhibits in a hectic rhythm, in Switzerland, Austria, France, Great Britain, Norway, Canada, Kuwait, at present in particular in the United States.
